in 2015, midland watched gerd janson close panorama bar. the way he played that night and the energy he held in the room inspired him to go home and write some music influenced by the experience. the tracks that followed was the first release on regraded. fast forward three releases, in a taxi to an airport gerd mentioned he might have some demos for the label that he had been working on with shan. what followed was a pair of tracks that perfectly encapsulate what the label is about, soundtracking the moments of the night and day when everyone on the dance floor feels like a family.

manchester producer anz self-titled debut comes at the crest of two years scenewide hype around her breathless brand of uk club music. also the maiden release from local club night-cum-label chow down, the record is as much informed by anz time as the nights most in-demand resident dj as by her instincts in the studio.these are tracks shaped by a good few encounters with manchester s roiling 2 a.m. crowds. this isn t to suggest a uniform sound anz ear for interplay brings her many influences together in sprawling constellations of style. jolting to life on the bassline- and funky-referencing steel percussion romp panrico, the record then slows to a half-time 808 lurch on clanger. the flip sees loa flex dense polyrhythms and coarse sublow bass before fencin brings it home in a final flourish of crystalline synthwork

the last few years have seen nathan melja really hit his stride, landing on such esteemed labels as mister saturday night, black opal and technicolour with an addictively weird update of the classic boxjam format. now he steps up to inaugurate dream real with three slices of upfront deviant business for all the sleazy dancers out there. there s no arguing with the rubbery bass tones and perfectly processed vocals on the original mix of -jerky teardrop-, but there s also the more wave-minded delights of the -blue mix- version of the track to suit more reflective situations. by way of contrast, -places we belong to- smooths out the mood on the b-side with a low riding slice of boogie that sports just a whiff of indie thrown in for good measure.

moss co. returns with rising italian star noha for a thoughtful 3 tracker remixed by label boss archie hamilton. loopo di mare on the a1 is a positively groovy affair. rolling percussion and driving stabs modulate and talk to each other playfully, punctuated by big pad sweeps and mini breaks keeping the dance floor enthralled, the kind of track that could be deployed effectively at any time of night and have a different result each time. cat takes a more heads-down approach. loose and lively percussion meets a concurrent synth, sustaining pressure throughout the intro, hinting at deeper message which is finally delivered in the form of a powerfully emotive lead. guaranteed eyes-closed, heads down. archie hamilton toughens up the percussion in his interpretation of cat on the flip side. driving bass meets crisp highs, tight drums and a hypnotic, distant vocal. the lead is kept until the first break where it is used to great effect - kept close to the original, but with added warmth and distortion. a tried and tested dance-floor bomb.

ltd 1 per customer - as one of chicago s most mysterious and revered characters, the story of gemini, aka spencer kincy has become something of a myth in recent years – blazing a trail throughout the 90s, prolifically releasing over 200 tracks from 1994 to 1999, spencer s music had shades innovation and soul few of his peers could match. then, suddenly, at the peak of his career, he disappeared from view. gemini s unique combination of chicago groove, detroit strings and spacey effects have rightly ensured on the north star as a sought after classic of the era. the ep was the second of gemini s two 12- for peacefrog which was closely followed by his peacefrog long-player in and out of fog and lights (re-press coming soon). lush transcending deep house for the conersiour.

what is there to say about the difference ? this is how it should be done - deep, with soul and conveying a message, house music doesn t get any realer, any purer. logic, a collaborative effort between wayne gardiner, roger sanchez, vivian sessoms and eddie maduro unleashed this monolithic slab of music on the world in 1990. truly streets ahead this record helped carve a new sound, a new feeling in dance music. oozing with human emotion and feeling the difference is one of those records that honestly warrants the title of classic . it s b side i got somethin is a slinky, late night groove that recalls smoky, sweaty dance-floors and is all the better for it, this is the real deal for real. yet another solid, essential release from the mighty strictly rhythm vaults, sounding as important, fresh and incredible as it did on it s initial release. house music history brought back into view for lucky ears and feet in 2017. the difference has been skilfully remastered from all original master sources and fully licensed and reissued officially for 2017.

duat (pronounced do-aht) was the realm of the dead in ancient egyptian mythology. the deity osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death, being the first mummy as depicted in the osiris myth.the underworld was also the residence of various other gods along with osiris. the duat was the region through which the sun god re traveled from west to east each night, and it was where he battled apep, who embodied the primordial chaos which the sun had to defeat in order to rise each morning and bring order back to the earth. it was also the place where people s souls went after death for judgement, though that was not the full extent of the afterlife. burial chambers formed touching-points between the mundane world and the duat, and the akh, the effectiveness of the dead, could use tombs to travel back and forth from the duat. duat (or duatrecords) is a label by amin fallaha and r100

repress from their 1982 12-on shout - comes with additional 1981 demo version from the sargasso sea track. shoc corridor was the london post-punk quartet of paul o’carroll (voice, synth), andy garnham (synth, drum), chris davis (guitar, bass, e-bow) and nogi prass (synth) named after the sam fuller film from 1963. chris met nogi shortly after moving to london in 1979 – they started playing music together, fell madly in love, and decided to form a band. they recruited andy, who had previously played in a band with stephen luscombe of blancmange, and lyricist and vocalist paul. their influences were wide reaching: kraftwerk, neu, cabaret voltaire, brian eno, pil, and joy division.
